I shopped this image off Biko's blog. I'm an avid reader of her blog and she inspires me in soooo many ways. Her courage and ability to aim for the stars makes her so.

Now,this dress was worn at her Birthday....

Starving girl saved Within Minutes...

Now this is a true story.

A pal of mine called me up a few minutes ago and boy was she starving. I truly wanted to help fix something that would whet her appetite and make her feel good at the same time.

Pasta!

It is such a simple meal to make compared to the effects when eating...amazing food made for you in minutes.

I am loving this

cooking Tips

Here's How:

Fill a large stockpot with water. The more the better - pasta only sticks when cooked in too little water.
Add salt. Salt makes pasta taste better, and won't appreciably increase the sodium level of your recipes. Use 1 teaspoon per gallon of water. At that level, 2 ounces of uncooked pasta (1 cup cooked), the FDA serving size, absorbs about 20 mg of sodium which is about 1% of the recommended daily sodium intake. That's nothing.
Bring the water to a rolling boil. This means a boil you can't stop by stirring.
Measure the pasta you need. Pasta generally doubles in size when cooked, so 1 cup uncooked = 2 cups cooked. Refer to the recipe if necessary.
Slowly add the pasta to the boiling water. Ideally, the water shouldn't stop boiling, but if that happens, it's ok.
Stir and stir some more! Pasta will stick together if it isn't stirred during the crucial first moments of cooking. Don't add oil, because that will make the pasta slippery and the sauce won't stick to it when it's done.
Start timing when the water returns to a boil. Most pastas cook in 8-12 minutes. Check the package directions!
You can regulate the heat so the pasta/water mixture doesn't foam up and over the pot sides. Lower it the tiniest bit, and everything should be under control.
Really the only way to tell if the pasta is correctly cooked is to taste it. It should be 'al dente' - firm, yet tender, with a tiny core in the middle.
You can also cut into a piece you've fished out of the pot. There shouldn't be any solid white in the center of the pasta - just a shading to more opaque cream color.
Now drain the pasta into a colander placed into your kitchen sink. Lift the colander and shake off excess water.
Don't rinse if you're serving a hot dish. That removes the starch that helps hold the sauce. If you are making a cold salad, rinse so the salad isn't sticky. On the other hand, I never rinse my pasta for cold main dish salads, simply because I like how the hot pasta absorbs the dressing. It's up to you!
Use the pasta in the recipe. Toss it into simmering sauce, mix it with a cold sauce, add to salads or use in frittatas.
Tips:

By covering the pot when you bring water to a boil, you are lowering the air pressure directly over the water, making it easier to boil.
Never mix pasta types in one pot. They all have different cooking times.
Watch the cooking process carefully. Pasta can overcook very quickly.
If the pasta is to be used in a casserole, undercook it slightly. It will finish cooking to perfection while in the oven or skillet.
What You Need

stock pot
water
pasta
salt
long handled spoon
kitchen timer

Enjoy your pasta with Peace and Love,
Esi

My pal and I were discussing the latest material trends coming up. My my,there are a whole lot of materials and colors to select from this season. It is going to be a very interesting time in regard to fashion shows and fashion houses. I am very excited in particular for the color TQ..(turquoise) its so in this season.

The colors are carefully selected to create that mood which is required for any given activity. Say,am glad that the animal print is still a major print and soooo looking forward to release my animal instincts at a huge party this season.

In her shoes Again...

Its a Sunday night,am stuck in the house!

My phone keeps buzzing with friends offering a drink here or dinner there but I do not want to get caught in my shoes tonight. I wish my country was clean enough for anybody to go out bare foot. I would be game...that doesn't stop me from thinking shoes though.

See,I love high heeled shoes. At a certain point in my life,my obsession with them took me to 100 pairs plus...and even with the obsession reduced,I still see myself dreaming shoes once in a while...it doesn't hurt...does it? And if it does,it is waaaaaay worth it!

Enjoy your shoes gals!

And still dreaming...

Changing me...changing you!

There are days when you have all the energy in the world and feel like you are superman or super woman then...nature will cause you to halt, give up..sometimes whether yo want it or not!

Today,it was the rain...jeez it poured! and all I could ream of was going to a nearby cafe for a coffee...haha

Now I am sitting at this cafe reading all the old magazines. I have read them before but find myself reading them over and over again.Today is not a boring day...it is just one of those days when nature forces us to laze, sit around and chill....even meditate.

I am meditating now, thinking, attracting all the possible energies that i need for my new project...my art project.

Ot is still the same but will do something about it this week and will post the pics here.

Maybe later in the day I get some more motivation and write you guys something interesting on the pages.

Dear Van Gogh

This song Vincent makes me cry... I realize sooo much talent that was deeply disturbed. Oh Vincent!

Something you should know about Vincent Lyrics

Title: Don McLean - Vincent lyrics

Artist: Don McLean Lyrics

Starry
starry night
paint your palette blue and grey

look out on a summer's day
with eyes that know the
darkness in my soul.
Shadows on the hills
sketch the trees and the daffodils

catch the breeze and the winter chills

in colors on the snowy linen land.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me

how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen
they did not know how

perhaps they'll listen now.

Starry
starry night
flaming flo'rs that brightly blaze

swirling clouds in violet haze reflect in
Vincent's eyes of China blue.
Colors changing hue
morning fields of amber grain

weathered faces lined in pain
are soothed beneath the artist's
loving hand.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me

how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free.
perhaps they'll listen now.

For they could not love you
but still your love was true

and when no hope was left in sight on that starry
starry night.
You took your life
as lovers often do;
But I could have told you
Vincent
this world was never
meant for one
as beautiful as you.

Starry
starry night
portraits hung in empty halls

frameless heads on nameless walls
with eyes
that watch the world and can't forget.
Like the stranger that you've met

the ragged men in ragged clothes

the silver thorn of bloddy rose
lie crushed and broken
on the virgin snow.
And now I think I know what you tried to say to me

how you suffered for your sanity

how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen
they're not
list'ning still
perhaps they never will.

Thou and I

Thou and I
Joyful the moment when we sat in the bower, Thou and I;
In two forms and with two faces - with one soul, Thou and I.

The colour of the garden and the song of the birds give the elixir of immortality
The instant we come into the orchard, Thou and I.

The stars of Heaven come out to look upon us -
We shall show the moon herself to them, Thou and I.

Thou and I, with no 'Thou' or 'I', shall become one through our tasting;
Happy, safe from idle talking, Thou and I.

The spirited parrots of heaven will envy us -
Wen we shall laugh in such a way, Thou and I.

This is stranger, that Thou and I, in this corner here...
Are both in one breath here and there - Thou and I.

My New Project

I recently decided to open up a studio at home...since I love to make dresses and jewelry and having my own studio will help me to concentrate.

Above is an image of what I have started with and hope to make it better with time.

I received a heart...

Today feels very different...my new heart is pumping steadily within me,and then it leaps with joy at its new found body (home) My heart makes me get that adrenalin rush and I jump out with enthusiasm at new beginnings with my new heart. I am excited! It is excited...we are both excited now that we found each other. Tonight, when I go to bed...I will rest assured that my heart is taking good care of me,tonight before I go to bed,I'll assure the stars and the open far off skies that my heart loves where it belongs and I have found a heart that calls this home. For now...now now now! I will jump at every opportunity with this new strong heart. My heart and I...one and the same.

Goretti's over and over again!

Like I said before,I never get tired of my little small village town called Entebbe. So little space and yet so many places to go to. I love discovering new spaces but one place that I am hooked to is Goretti's-down by Manyago Lake shore.

I do not have a particular reason why I feel so at home in this place...I can never tell whether its the good food, the friendly staff, the well kept flowers(I am love with nature) or the like minded people who go there. It is always beautiful.

Last week was a very beautiful time since my boyfriend was on vacation,we went out a lot ad often enjoyed a pizza and ice on the beach.

I was amazed to discover how this small spaces have so much to offer...how it can hold so many happy faces, plants and all with her beauty...and besides this, they've added an art shop down by the shore so now you can have your craft sales by the beach. Awesome!

You will find you a find at the craft store.

For the love of Arsenal..

Hey pals,

I have been to places within the week...first to the rocks at the shores of Lake Victoria...2 pals and I. It was beautiful...amazing! we just sat there for hours on end listening to the waves and then cracking over even a fly...I would love to do this again.

Its amazing how litle things make the heart glad. It is those little hings and gestures in life that count!

The next weekend,I was invited over to a friend's for a child's birthday. Everything was fine and the moment we were all waiting for arrived. This was in form of an enthusiastic Arsenal supporter...well...the preacher asked us to meditate. This pal of ours just screamed with thumbs up "Arsenal oyee" just when the Pastor had started to pray...we couldn't laugh then but guess who was cracking right after???...all of us. He made my day.

Well.allow me to love you and leave you...am off to capture another art and about moment.

Fusion.

So there was no Shoe party. But I guess you all enjoyed your shoes over the weekend.

My second love is fusion!

I just like the dresses that I make...a blend of African fabric and a Western touch. Good stuff.

It makes me hold my head up and enjoy the best of both worlds.

Chaos!

I dislike those days, going out of town with the sun way up into a rainy city.It sucks! It sucks that I can't be bothered to check the forecast..and it double sucks that its pouring!

Well,we can't avoid such things all the time so this is what one requires just in case you think the weather is uncertain on the other side...

<i>Very nice if you carry a scarf in your bag if you do not know what the weather is like on the other side!

A tiny umbrella will also do!

If you do not mind, just drop in a handy T-shirt. You never know...

Color me beautiful...

I just read that color is energy and that if you are in tune with your colors, then you are bound to look dynamic.

Color coordination does not only make you look good but also gives an organized image to one.

Everyday when you put together elements of an attire, your choices to mix and match them can make the greatest impression on others so go ahead and mix in style.

It is very important to have a wheel. That way,you can easily determine how to coordinate colors.

Even guys ought to nail it if they want to appear put together.

Trick is to wear what best defines you...

Street chic...

Here's to every unconventional fashionista who do things their way and set trends...

I particularly love the Individual story that clothes tell about a person and seeing an authentic wearer of their own style is simply amazing.

Now here is a tip on how you can nail it with your own style and score big on the streets...
...Always know who you are and let your clothes tell a story... You want to express yourself in the most transparent way and this often reflects on the type of clothing one wears...hey...this stretches further to the color choice, fitting, length etc...

Our Heritage...Bark Cloth!

I was mesmerized just reading about Ugandan bark cloth also known as Olubugo and how it has been preserved and used. This isa very special material and is one of the evolution wonders of Uganda! From traditional limitations to high end fashion designs, this trend is going strong!

Initially, all we ever heard about this Olubugo was the fact that traditional healers wore it during any ceremony and we all connected it or limited it to traditional but boy are we wrong!

I have seen beautiful designs from the bark cloth...from book covers to accessories to creative designs...wow... am swimming in an ocean of possibilities with my bark cloth and a head of ideas..jump in!

There a a variety of ways in which the bark cloth have played a huge role in art...depends on how creative one gets...

you guys need to visit this page to see the amazing works and wonders of the bark cloth...meet you there!

Conscious fashionistas! Part 1

OOOOOhhh..!!! I am so excited about this new 'project fashionista' that I am venturing into. I have looked into the eye of fashion and tried to understand my sisters(and some brothers) who have the courage to make or break trends. Many of us have watched as the local celebrities, divas, political figures...well,let's say people who seem to always fit in the public eye,try so hard to introduce the latest trends or try to 'create their own'.

I personally appreciate fashion..the cuts, the colors, the fabric, the fitting and oh! the attitude in which one wears it! I am about to introduce a 10 part series of people in our community who have managed to hold their own when it comes to making a fashion statement.

And the Number one contender is.....drums rolling....

JUDITH HEARD!

It is not about her having it all btw, this diva wears very simple and elegant cuts. I just love the way she wears her colors and fits with a particular theme. She has a very high sense of fashion. She has even gone out of her way to become a trend setter. I love the way she introduces a new trend and girls all over town are going out for it. Love it! Coolstuff!

Somebody..anybody..please send me cool pics of Judith Heard. She rocks!
